How to distinguish rod or piston Y ring? DSH Seals here to share the method.

Rod or piston Y ring can be distinguished from the angle of inclination of the inner and outer lip. If the long side inward, it will be rod Y ring, DSH Seals product code, Yxd. If the short side inward, that’s piston Y ring, DSH Seals product code, YxD.

If the inclination angle of the lip of outer diameter is larger then then inner diameter, it would be rod Y ring, if not, that’s piston Y ring.

Because the Y ring plays a sealing role depends on the tilted lip compression and stretching, rod Y ring rely on the inner lip, so the angle of it is larger than outer lip. Piston Y ring rely on the outer lip, so the angle of it is larger than inner lip.
