Skeleton oil seals working principle

Update:2018-05-31

Skeleton oil seals  are typical representatives of oil seals. In general, oil seals refer to skeleton oil seals. The function of the oil seal is generally to isolate the parts that need lubrication in the transmission parts from the output parts so as not to leak the oil. The skeleton acts like a reinforcing bar in the concrete structure, reinforcing the effect and allowing the oil seal to maintain its shape and tension.

The structure of skeleton oil seal  consists of three parts: oil seal body, reinforced skeleton and self-tightening coil spring. According to different parts of the seal body is divided into the bottom, waist skeleton oil seal structure parts, edge and seal lip and so on.

Generally, in the free state, the inner diameter of the skeleton oil seal is smaller than the shaft diameter, that is, it has a certain interference amount. Therefore, when the oil is encapsulated into the oil seal seat and the shaft, the pressure of the oil seal edge and the contraction force of the self-tightening coil spring generate a certain radial tight force on the shaft.

After a period of operation, the pressure will rapidly decrease and even disappear. Therefore, Adding the spring can compensate the oil seal self-tightening force at any time.
