Characteristics of HNBR oil seal application

Update:2018-11-24

The rotary oil seal (dynamic seal) or the automobile (shaft movement seal) are all different requirements of the use conditions, which determine the performance and requirements of the rubber seal seal material to be selected for the oil seal. The currently used rubber seal material. Including nitrile rubber, acrylate rubber and fluoro rubber, in addition, we can also choose polyurethane, silicone rubber, hydrogenated nitrile rubber, PTFE and other commonly used rubber sealing materials in the industry!

First, Hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR; H-NBR; a new variety of nitrile rubber)

1. What are the performance characteristics of the oil seal made of hydrogenated nitrile rubber?

Oil seal (seal) made of hydrogenated nitrile rubber. The new elastomer with excellent performance is an oil seal made by hydrolyzing the emulsion polybutadiene solution under catalytic and high pressure. It can be filled with more fillers.

The sealing rubber prepared by blending with the hydrocarbon rubber sealing material has good cold resistance, wear resistance and compression set resistance. Due to the short development time of HNBR, the bonding technology with fiber and metal has been researched and developed.

The oil seal made of hydrogenated nitrile rubber is second only to the butyl rubber seal material, and has high temperature resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, fluorocarbons and lubricating oils and fuel oils with strong corrosive additives. Chemical stability, strong ozone resistance, its acid-resistant gasoline capacity is equivalent to 5 parts of ordinary NBR, and resistant to hydrogen sulfide, which is a special advantage of hydrogenated nitrile rubber sealing material.

2. What industry (what mechanical equipment or environment) can the hydrogenated nitrile rubber seal be used in?

Hydrogenated nitrile rubber seals have been widely used in the automotive industry and oilfield oil seals. For oilfields with high hydrogen sulfide content, hydrogenated nitrile rubber seals should be used.

Because of its excellent cold resistance and heat resistance, it can be used in gaskets, O-rings, etc.; due to its chemical resistance, HNBR is suitable for gas well rioters, drilling shields, plungers, valve seals; Because of its heat resistance and radiation resistance, it is better than silicone rubber, fluorine rubber oil seal and polytetrafluoroethylene. It is suitable for sealing oil seal materials of various rubber seals of nuclear power plants.

HNBR can add more fillers due to its low rigidity, good process performance and low density. Its product volume is only half of that of fluororubber oil seal, and its price is much lower than that of fluororubber sealing material. Therefore, it will become a fluororubber sealing material. Features a flexible alternative.
