What are the general material for Reciprocating Seals?

Update:2015-10-03
The commonly used material for Reciprocating seals is Rubber (NBR, FKM and so on) and their fabrics, Polyurethane (PU),  Modified Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Thermoplastic material.

Rubber material Characteristics.
1 Wide range of temperature adaptation, the application of special materials such as fluorine, silicon expand the scope of application of rubber materials;
2 Have good adaptability with the medium, choose different rubber materials according to different working conditions;
3 Good elasticity, it usually combines with Pu, PTFE as a combination sealing ring, it plays the role of compensation wear;

4 Low pressure sealing performance is good, can be used in pneumatic seal.

       Rubber Seals.

Polyurethane (PU) Characteristics.
1 The range of temperature adaptation is relatively narrow, not resistant to high temperature;

2 Have good wear resistant, good mechanical performance, long life, can be widely used.

       PU Seals.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Characteristics.
1 The most widely range of temperature adaptation, have high temperature resistant and low temperature resistant.
2 Apply to all chemical medium.
3 Low strength, wear-resisting is not good, it must be added with 5-40% filler (such as Bronze, Carbon Fiber, Graphite, etc.) to increase strength and improve the wear resistance;

      PTFE Seals.
