The difference between O ring and Y ring

The cross section of Y Ring is like the letter “ Y“, it is a typical lip Seals.
O Ring cross cross section is like the letter “ O”, it is called O type Seals.
O Ring advantages and O Ring disadvantages.
Advantages, the Seals Ring has small end face size, and the installation groove can be designed as an integral groove. Groove processing and seals ring installation easily, it is also a reversible seals.
Disadvantages:
Poor sealing performance;
Prone to rolling, twisting, causing damage;
When there is low pressure, it will have high friction;
Friction margin decreases, directly affects tightness;
Main application:
The small size valve;
Piston and piston rod seal.
Y Ring advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages, Good sealing performance
Low pressure when the friction is small;
After a small amount of wear can be automatically compensated, long service life.
Disadvantages:
One way action, sealing two-way fluid need a pair of Seals ring, sealing structure is complex, large size. Between two sealing ring may produce trapped oil, cause reverse pressure damage. Sealing face size is large, to open split installation trench, groove processing complex.

Suitable for sealing of high comprehensive performance requirements of piston and rod seals.
