Diverse applications and features of different automotive oil seals made from various materials.

    Oil seal is widely applied, especially in hydraulic industry and automotive industry,because its perfect oil resistance. Today DSH Seals introduces you what are the applications and features do automotive seals process?

Materials & Applications

   FKM: Engine front or rear crankshafts, value stem and oil lubrication axles.

   ACM/AEM: Engine front crankshaft, driving bevel pinion and gear-box.

   NBR: Semi-axis, tunnel shaft bearing,Wheel hub, driving shaft, differential mechanism, power divider,shock absorber and Direction machine.

   HNBR: Wheel hub in cold areas.

   PTFE: High-powered engine front or rear crankshafts.

   ST: Rubber parts of FKM oil seals.

Features & Media resistance

   Lip: poor wear and high temperature resistance. Can be improved the resistance of wearing and high temperature though  formula adjustment, also can be improved the compression set.

   Hardness and Crack of Lip: the temperature of oil is overheat than the resistance of rubber. The material of lip should be changed. Eg: change NBR to ACE/AEC or change ACE/AEC to FKM.

  Softness and Swelling: the materials of lip is unsuitable. Choose the material according to the lubrication, as different lubrication contain different additive(S additive), the rubber formula and the method of vulcanization should be ameliorated.

   Elasticity of PTFE lip: if the elasticity and pressing force are low, oil leakage happen when operating. On the contrary, the lip will excessive wear and the shaft will also be abraded.

   Moderate hardness: if the lip over hard, the shaft may be weight loss or deviate the center; if the lip over soft, the cooperation between shaft and oil seal will be weakened, leading to poor sealing.
