Precautions of leakage of several kinds of Oil Seals

When we find the leakage of oil seals, firstly confirm the part of leakage. If it is not oil seals leakage, sometimes for reasons seeping oil and other leakages, they are mistaken for leakages.

Main reason of oil seals leakages

1. Owing to the size tolerance doesn’t conform to standard specification, the outer edge of the oil seal and the static sealing surface that cooperates with the cavity distorted.

2. Material cracking due to harsh working condition, especially the cracking of oil seals edges

3. The rubber hardness increase because harsh working condition and rubber elastomer is incompatible with working medium. Or the hardness of elastomer is too high.

4. The sealing medium swells the rubber and reduces the hardness of the rubber, which causes premature aging and wear of the oil seal.

5. Corrosion from the shaft to the sealing lip area will leave a permanent fault for the sealing performance of the sealing system

6. Lubricant failure causes the system to dry, resulting in rapid wear of the sealing lip

7.Comprehensive aging, rubber and elastomer are both aging

8. Formation of "oil carbon" dirt at the sealing lip, so that the sealing lip of the oil seal is lifted, causing leakage failure of the sealing system

9. The sealing lip of the oil seal no longer follows the shaft surface vibration and shaft runout

10. Premature wear of contaminants from the inside of the seal into the seal edge causes premature wear of the shaft surface and seal lip

11. The assembly process is not standardized and the contact surface of the shaft surface is damaged, causing premature wear of the sealing lip.

12. Sealing edges are damaged during storage, transportation and assembly
