U seal ring with cross-section shape variant
Update:2018-05-15
The U seal ring and many of its applicable cross-sectional shape variants can be used as both piston rod seals and piston seals. Although it is a seal installed in the groove, it can also be clamped with a simple assembly.
Homogeneous rubber seals can be used for pressures up to 210 bar (3000 lb/in2) and may be higher in some suitable configurations. The normal pressure limit for the fabric rubber U-ring is 350 bar (5000 lb/in2); the face-laminated ring or leather U-ring is 700 bar (10000 lb/in).
However, the maximum rated pressure may be affected by the working temperature of the system, especially in the case of rubber seals.
An advantage of the U-ring seal piston seal is that due to the large interference of the lips, a satisfactory seal can be achieved in a cylinder with a large tolerance, thus saving production costs.
U-rings are single-acting seals that require back-to-back mounting in double-acting cylinders. It can also be used in groups with pressure rings. Simple U-shaped seal rings are usually supported and positioned by a retaining ring (piston ring), especially when the diameter is large.
